We built Peerakeet because we've lived both the chaos and the silence that come with addiction.
Ishan's Journey
For me (Ishan), growing up around substance use, gambling, and emotional volatility made one thing painfully clear: addiction doesn't just affect the person using — it isolates everyone involved.
Later, after working with harm reduction clinics, addiction psychiatrists, and policy teams at ASAM, I found myself needing support too. But instead of going to family, I often turned to anonymous communities online — where strangers, not professionals, offered the empathy, accountability, and honesty I needed most.
Hunter's Journey
Hunter, meanwhile, spent years as a D1 athlete and captain of Brown's wrestling team, watching people around him silently battle pressure, pain, and addiction-related struggles with no obvious place to turn.
At the same time, he deepened his passion and skills in computer science and the creation and utilization of technology to improve lives. After graduating, he committed fully to building something that could make help more human — and more accessible.
Peerakeet was born from that shared belief:
📱 Support shouldn't be locked behind stigma, cost, or credentials.
💬 Human connection can be healing.
🧠 Tech should meet people where they are, not where the system thinks they should be.
Thanks for being here.
We can't wait to show you what's next.
With care,
Ishan & Hunter
